The UK High Court has dismissed a challenge brought by David Miranda, partner of Glenn Greenwald, that he was unlawfully detained and questioned for nine hours at Heathrow airport last August. The court ruled that while his detention under Schedule 7 to the Terrorism Act 2000 “constituted an indirect interference with press freedom,” it was “a proportionate measure in the circumstances” as the objective was legitimate and “very pressing” in the interests of national security.
