Chelsea Rice

Chelsea Rice (SUDCLinkedIn) is a Senior Counsel in the Rule of Law Program at States United Democracy Center. She joined States United after more than fifteen years with the United States Department of Justice, where she served as a prosecutor in the Northern District of Ohio U.S. Attorney’s Office, including as Chief of the White Collar Crimes Section, and as a Senior Advisor and Chief of Staff to the Director for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

While at DOJ, Chelsea investigated and prosecuted complex federal public corruption, civil rights, and fraud matters, including prosecution of an international adoption agency that corruptly procured adoptions of Ugandan and Polish children through bribery, and one of the largest labor trafficking cases in the United States, involving Guatemalan minors forced to work at chicken farm. She received numerous awards during her tenure with DOJ, including the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service and the Director’s Award for Superior Performance as an Assistant U.S. Attorney.

Before joining DOJ, Chelsea worked at the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and in private practice. She received her law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and her undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University.
