Chris Purdy (@itsapurdy) is the Veterans for American Ideals Project Manager at Human Rights First, which mobilizes veterans around the country to advocate for human rights in their communities. Prior to this position, he worked at Atlanta Public Schools where he developed and implemented school reform policy for the Office of Student Services. He is also a Defense Fellow in the Truman National Security Project.
Chris served eight years as a Combat Engineer in the Army National Guard, deploying to Iraq in 2011 as part of a convoy escort team. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Sociology from the State University of New York College at Fredonia, a Masters of Education, Inclusive Education from Nazareth College of Rochester, and a Masters in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin.
