Chris Purdy (@itsapurdy) is the Veterans for American Ideals Project Manager at Human Rights First, which mobilizes veterans around the country to advocate for human rights in their communities. He has organized veterans in defense of human rights issues ranging from democracy protection to countering violent white extremism to supporting our wartime allies through the Special Immigrant Visa program. He is also a Defense Fellow in the Truman National Security Project.
Chris served eight years as a Combat Engineer in the Army National Guard, deploying to Iraq in 2011 as part of a convoy escort team. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Sociology from the State University of New York College at Fredonia, a Masters of Education, Inclusive Education from Nazareth College of Rochester, and a Masters in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin.
