Ian J. Lynch (@Ian_J_Lynch) is an independent foreign policy analyst with a Masters in Middle East, Caucasus, and Central Asian Security Studies from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. From 2013-2018 he worked on girls’ education projects in Afghanistan, where he designed curriculum and led the professional development of Afghan teachers. His ongoing research interests include human rights, transnational repression, kleptocracy, and how they interact with international security. He writes about these issues and other international affairs in Central Asia, Afghanistan, and China for The Diplomat and in the Middle East and North Africa for Ahval News.
