Erlingur Erlingsson

Erlingur Erlingsson (@rlingure) is a Senior Advisor with Adapt, a tech policy consultancy focused on trust, safety and human rights. He has spent the bulk of his career in diplomacy, primarily with the Icelandic Foreign Service. He was Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Iceland in Washington from 2014-17, and Iceland’s National Liaison Representative to NATO’s Allied Command Transformation from 2012-2017. He spent three years working in Afghanistan (2009-2011), initially as Deputy Director for Development in ISAF HQ, before leading the UN’s work in Khost Province and serving as UN-ISAF Liaison in Kabul. In 2018, he was a visiting fellow at the Center for Transatlantic Relations at Johns Hopkins University SAIS focused on NATO and Nordic security. He coordinated Facebook’s (now Meta) engagement with international organizations from 2018-2022.
Erlingur pursued D.Phil studies in Military History at Oxford University and holds an executive MBA from the University of Reykjavik. He is also on LinkedIn.
