We are thrilled to welcome Danae Askar to the Just Security team as a Legal Editor.
Askar comes to us most recently from the Department of State’s Office of the Legal Adviser, where she served as an Attorney-Adviser. Prior to that, she was Counsel for a global, pro bono law firm.
With nearly nine years of practice experience, she brings deep and sophisticated expertise across areas including transnational law enforcement and intelligence, cybercrime, complex treaty negotiations, international criminal law, and transitional justice, including advising on the U.N.-led Intra-Syrian Peace Process and ceasefire negotiations in Yemen. Her work has appeared in the Harvard Negotiation Law Review and the ILSA Journal of International and Comparative Law, among others; prior to law school, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Rwanda.
At a time when rigorous domestic and international legal analysis is more important than ever, we are delighted to welcome Askar to our team and for the Just Security community to benefit from her expertise in curating content on our pages.
