Andy Wright

Andy Wright (Twitter) is a Senior Fellow and Founding Editor of Just Security.

Wright served as Associate Counsel to President Barack Obama in the White House Counsel’s Office. Previously, after six years in private practice as a litigator and white collar criminal defense attorney, Wright was Staff Director and Counsel to the national security subcommittee of the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform from 2007 to 2011. Prior to his time in private practice, he served as Assistant Counsel to Vice President Al Gore in the Clinton White House, where he managed responses to investigations conducted by Congress, the Department of Justice, and the Office of the Independent Counsel.

Wright is a Partner in the Washington office of K&L Gates and was previously Associate Professor at Savannah Law School, where he taught constitutional law, criminal law, criminal procedure, presidential powers, and federal criminal law. He has also taught related courses at West Virginia University College of Law and Armstrong State University. Wright’s research focuses on congressional oversight and its intersection with national security.

He is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and Washington & Lee University, where he was awarded a Harry S. Truman scholarship for commitment to public service. Wright is also on LinkedIn.
