Andras Vamos-Goldman (@VamosGoldman) is the Executive Director of Justice Rapid Response (JRR), an intergovernmental stand-by facility of criminal justice professionals from around the world, who have been specifically trained in international investigations, and who are readily deployable at the request of the international community in situations where human rights and international criminal law violations may have occurred. Mr. Vamos-Goldman is a Canadian diplomat, who was selected to his position by JRR’s Executive Board. Mr. Vamos-Goldman’s career included assignments to the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda and Somalia; Washington DC; the United Nations in New York (where he served as both Political Coordinator and as Legal Adviser); as well as Deputy High Commissioner to South Africa. He has also practiced private international law with the firm of Stikeman, Elliot and as Law and Policy Adviser to the CEO of the University of British Columbia’s Liu Institute for Global Initiative. Mr. Vamos-Goldman’s involvement with international criminal justice goes back to the late 1990s. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Sierra Leone Special Court, becoming the founding Chair of its Management Committee. He also served on the Bureau of the International Criminal Court’s Preparatory Committee, representing it’s Chair, Ambassador Philippe Kirsch. Mr. Vamos-Goldman has been involved with JRR from its conception and led it into becoming a fully operational intergovernmental facility.
