
Luca Trenta
Luca Trenta is an Associate Professor in International Relations in the Department of Politics, Philosophy, and International Relations, Swansea University, UK.
He is the author of The President’s kill list: assassination in US foreign policy since the Cold War (Edinburgh University Press). He is the co-editor Killing in the name of the State: state-sponsored assassinations in international politics, with Dr Kiril Avramov (Lynne Rienner 2025). He has published extensively on assassination, covert action, and US foreign policy in history, intelligence studies, IR, and international law journals. His latest article with Dr Thomas Field Jr. ‘The Politics of complicity: the CIA and the death of Che Guevara,’ was published in Intelligence and National Security in March 2026. He is a regular contributor to The Conversation, RUSI Commentary, BBC, Deutsche Welle, Radio 24, and History Today.
