Ari Shaw (LinkedIn) is Senior Fellow and Director of International Programs at the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law, where he leads global research and strategic initiatives on LGBTQ law and policy. His work examines how LGBTQ rights connect to broader issues shaping global politics, including democracy, technology, climate, and migration. His research has been published and cited in academic journals and major outlets such as Foreign Affairs, The Washington Post, CNN, and NPR, and he speaks widely on LGBTQ rights and U.S. foreign policy. Previously, he held positions at Columbia University, the Gill Foundation, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the United Nations Association of the USA. He was a Fulbright Scholar at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, and a Multirights Fellow at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights in Oslo. He holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University, an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics, and a B.A. from Harvard University.
