Daniel Remler (LinkedIn – X) is a senior fellow with the Technology and National Security Program at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS). His research focuses on the implications of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies for U.S. national security, foreign policy, and strategic competition.
Prior to joining CNAS, Remler served as a policy advisor in the Office of the Special Envoy for Critical and Emerging Technology at the U.S. Department of State, where he led AI policy and co-wrote the department’s first technology diplomacy strategy. He previously worked as a journalist with the Economist, where he covered American politics and public policy. Remler holds an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School and a BA in economics and history from the University of California, Berkeley.
