Paul R. Pillar is Nonresident Senior Fellow at Georgetown University’s Center for Security Studies and served for 28 years in the U.S. intelligence community, including as the National Intelligence Officer for the Near East and South Asia, and deputy chief of the CIA’s Counterterrorist Center.
