Hans Nelson

Hans Nelson is the Cyber and Digital Policy Advisor for the U.S. Mission to NATO, leading multilateral negotiations on cyber defense and digital policy issues in Brussels since 2021. He is also an Adjunct Professor at George Mason University’s School of Engineering.

Previously, he served as a Deputy Director for the FBI’s National Cyber Investigative Joint Task Force in Virginia, where he helped lead an organization composed of 30+ agencies from across law enforcement, the intelligence community, and the Defense Department to investigate, coordinate and share information on criminal and nation-state cyber actors. He has over two decades of government experience in the fields of cyber, counterterrorism, and intelligence. He holds an M.A. in Linguistics, computational emphasis, from Brigham Young University and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
