David McKean

David McKean is a lawyer at Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, where he oversees the organization’s legal and advocacy work in Asia. In that capacity he works with a wide range of civil society activists and human rights defenders throughout the region to strengthen their work and their voice. Mr. McKean has worked for a decade as a lawyer on civil rights and human rights issues related to national security and foreign policy. Prior to joining Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, Mr. McKean served as the Legal and Public Policy Director of Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, an organization dedicated to advancing the rights of LGBT members of the United States military and veterans. Mr. McKean is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and the American University, Washington College of Law, where he served as the Executive Editor of the American University International Law Review.
