Lieutenant Colonel Jahara Matisek (XLinkedIn) is a Command Pilot and a Research Fellow at the U.S. Naval War College, Senior Fellow at the Payne Institute for Public Policy, and a Visiting Scholar at Northwestern University.

Lt. Col. Matisek has over 3,700 hours of flight time in the C-17, E-11 BACN, T-6, and T-53; and he earned a Bronze Star in 2020 for commanding airbase operations at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan.

Lt. Col. Matisek has a Ph.D. in Political Science from Northwestern University and has taught at the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Naval War College. He is currently the most published active-duty officer serving with 2 books and 200 articles on the defense industrial base, strategy, and warfare.
