Alicia Buenrostro Massieu is Ambassador of Mexico since 2012 and former Deputy Permanent Representative of Mexico to the United Nations. Ambassador Buenrostro Massie has more than 35 years of experience in the Mexican Foreign Service, holding the rank of Ambassador since 2012. She most recently served as Deputy Permanent Representative of Mexico to the United Nations (2021-2026). She has also served as Ambassador to Austria (2016-2020), concurrent to Slovakia and Slovenia, and Permanent Representative to the International Organizations based in Vienna. She was Consul General in Hong Kong and Macau and served at the Embassies of Mexico in Spain, the United States, and the United Kingdom, as well as at Mexico’s foreign ministry in Mexico City. She has also been Spokesperson for Foreign Press for the President of Mexico (2000-2003) and is co-author of several publications and articles on foreign policy, including the 2013 Oxford Handbook on Modern Diplomacy.
