Eric Lee (LinkedIn—X) is a federal litigator and 2024 recipient of the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s Jack Wasserman Memorial Award for Excellence in Litigation. Eric is a partner at Lee & Godshall-Bennett, LLP and has provided federal court representation to individuals and organizations fighting deportation, detention, visa denials, family separation and harassment by right-wing extremist groups. His focus is on the intersection of immigration and the First Amendment, and he regularly represents non-citizens accused of gang membership and support for terrorism based on protected speech, association and religious beliefs.

In April 2024, he argued Dep’t of State v. Muñoz before the U.S. Supreme Court, a case challenging the “doctrine of consular non-reviewability.” Later that year he co-founded the Consular Accountability Project and is presently on the organization’s Board of Directors. Eric’s work has been featured in CNN, the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, ABC, CBS, NBC, Al Jazeera, France 24, Newsweek, NPR, Telemundo, Univision and others. He holds a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School and a B.A. from the University of California, Davis. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan and speaks Spanish.
