Sarah Kenny (@SarahEKenny1) is the Project Coordinator at the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT). Kenny received her Master of Arts degree in Violence, Terrorism and Security with Distinction from Queen’s University Belfast in December 2020. Her dissertation research examined the evolution of public discourse on far-right terror in the United States in the aftermath of Charlottesville’s 2017 lethal vehicle ramming attack. Prior to undertaking her graduate studies, Kenny held the position of Senior Program Assistant at Women In International Security (WIIS), a non-profit in Washington, D.C. dedicated to advancing women in the security field as well as promoting a gender perspective in the theoretical and applied arenas of peace and security. Kenny graduated with highest distinction from the University of Virginia in 2018, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Philosophy, Policy and Law and a minor in Women and Gender Studies. Her tenure as Student Council President during the August 2017 “Unite the Right” rallies crystallized her professional pursuits and motivated her to pursue a career in the study and prevention of violent extremism and terror.
