Kate Holcombe
Kate Holcombe is the National Security intern for Human Rights First, where she assists with legal, policy, and advocacy work pertaining to Guantanamo and national security policies that respect human rights and the rule of law. Kate is a 2018 J.D. Candidate from American University, Washington College of Law, and a Note & Comment Editor for the Journal of Gender, Social Policy & the Law. For the past two years she has also worked as Senior Research Associate for the Public International Law & Policy Group, providing legal and policy support to high-level negotiations in Geneva related to the Syrian peace process. Kate holds a MA in European Public Policy from the University of Kent, receiving distinction for her Master’s Thesis related to Bulgaria’s eco-activism in anticipation of accession to the European Union. She also holds a BA in English from the University of California, Chico.
