Lt. Col. Jim Golby

Lieutenant Colonel Jim Golby is an active duty Army strategist who currently serves as a Defense Policy Advisor in the United States Mission to NATO. Jim previously served as a Special Advisor to the Vice President of the United States, as a Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at West Point. Before becoming an Army strategist, he commanded a security company in combat in Iraq (2006-07) and led a scout platoon in combat in Iraq (2004-05). Jim has also served in various leadership positions as a cavalry officer during tours in Europe and the Pacific. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and was commissioned in June 2001. Jim also holds a PhD in political science from Stanford University.
