Mary Giovagnoli

Mary Giovagnoli (LinkedIn) served as the first Ombuds for Unaccompanied Children at the Department of Health and Human Services from 2024 to 2025. She served as the DHS Deputy Assistant Secretary for Immigration Policy from 2015 to 2017. From 1996 to 2008 she served as an asylum and refugee law attorney with the legacy Immigration and Naturalization Service and  United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. She served as a Congressional Fellow from USCIS to the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2008.  She is also a former executive director of the Refugee Council USA and held senior roles at Kids in Need of Defense, the American Immigration Council and the National Immigration Forum.
