Nathalye Cotrino
Nathalye Cotrino (X – Bluesky – LinkedIn) is a senior researcher in the Americas Division at Human Rights Watch. She has researched and written reports on armed conflict and organized crime-related abuses, repression against protesters, attacks on the rule of law, and other human rights issues in Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Haiti, and Peru.
Nathalye joined Human Rights Watch in January 2020 as a senior research assistant in the Americas Division. In 2023, she became a researcher in the Crisis, Conflict and Arms Division. She returned to the Americas Division in late 2024 as a senior researcher covering human rights crises across the region.
She previously worked as a consultant with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Colombia and as a prosecutor and criminal investigations coordinator with the Colombian Attorney General’s Office, where she investigated war crimes committed by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and other armed groups.
Nathalye holds a law degree from Universidad Externado de Colombia, a master’s degree in human rights from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and a master’s degree in international relations from Universidad Externado de Colombia, offered in partnership with Sciences Po Paris.
