Sarah Alshawish is currently an MIA/MPA student at Columbia University and the London School of Economics and Political Science, interested in the expansion of human rights and comparative social welfare policy. She conducts research and outreach with the Columbia Law School’s Human Rights Institute’s Human Rights in the U.S. Project. Before joining HRI, Sarah focused on accountability and program evaluation with the New York City Mayor’s Office. In previous roles, she has increased access to healthcare and housing, and engaged in medical research at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she co-authored a paper on HPV cancer.
