Dr. Jason Abbott (LinkedIn) is a professor of Political Science at Montclair State University, where his work examines the security politics and international relations of East and Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on China, Japan, and great-power competition. His research addresses authoritarian resilience, digital censorship, and information warfare. Prior to joining Montclair State, he held an endowed chair at the University of Louisville, where he directed the Center for Asian Democracy. His academic work has appeared in Political Behavior, the International Journal of Press/Politics, and Third World Quarterly, among other journals. He has provided expert commentary to the BBC, Al Jazeera, and CNN and writes for Fair Observer.
