As this week’s developments underscore, national security issues are likely to play an increasingly prominent role in the upcoming midterm elections—and in shaping the agenda of both the remaining work of the 113th Congress and the Congress that the elections will return to Washington next January.
With that in mind, and as part of our upcoming celebration of our first anniversary, Just Security is co-hosting (with CQ Roll Call) a panel discussion in Washington on Monday, September 22, that will take a far more in-depth look at the impact national security will have on the midterms and on Congress’s agenda thereafter, featuring Rachel Kleinfeld (the founding CEO and former President of the Truman National Security Project); Jerry Seib (the Washington Bureau Chief for the Wall Street Journal); Tim Starks (intelligence reporter for CQ Roll Call); Cully Stimson (the Manager of the National Security Law Program at the Heritage Foundation), and our very own Steve Vladeck. More details (and a link to register to attend the event) are available below.
We also plan to feature a series of posts looking at this issue in the run-up to the event, so stay tuned…
