Julian Watrous is a second-year J.D. candidate at Yale Law School, where he serves on the board of the National Security Group and as an Editor of the Yale Journal of International Law. Julian spent his 1L summer in Lazard’s sovereign advisory practice in Paris, advising governments and multilateral development banks on sovereign debt restructurings and development finance.

Prior to law school, Julian began his career at the U.S. Treasury Department, where he worked on international economic policy issues in the Western Hemisphere office and Treasury’s International Climate Task Force. He then went on to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Markets Group, where his work focused on international markets and foreign central banks.

Julian received a BA from Stanford University in 2019, graduating with honors, and completed an MSc, graduating with distinction in International Political Economy, at the London School of Economics.
