Anicée Van Engeland

Dr. Anicée Van Engeland (@AniceeVE) is a senior lecturer in law and international security at Cranfield University. She holds a PhD from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques and an LL.M from Harvard Law School. She held research positions at Oxford University and Harvard Law School, and taught at SOAS and the University of Exeter. She has been a visiting lecturer at Cardiff University, Nagoya University, Azad University and Trento University.

She was a human rights and an aid worker prior to joining academia and has worked with different international organisations and non-governmental organisations ever since.

Dr. Van Engeland is an expert in Iranian studies and in Islamic law, and analyzes the intersections between Islamic law and international law. Part of her focus is on peace and security in Islamic law.
