Jay Shooster (@JayShooster) is a former associate editor and Masiyiwa-Bernstein Fellow at Just Security. Jay graduated from the NYU School of Law in 2016, where he served as a clinical student on the policing policy team of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. During law school, he interned in the National Security Division of the US Department of Justice, and in the Terrorism and International Narcotics Unit of the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. He also worked as a research assistant in human rights law to Professor Philip Alston, and as a legal intern for the Open Society Justice Initiative. Jay holds a BA in Philosophy and Political Science from the University of Florida, and provides legal strategy consulting services for animal advocacy organizations.
