Ahmed Shaheed

Ahmed Shaheed (@ahmedshaheed) is the United Nations Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief, Senior Lecturer at the University of Essex School of Law, Senior Fellow at the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights, and Founding Chair of the Universal Rights Group. His previous positions include U.N. Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Iran and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Maldives. Dr. Shaheed is the recipient of many international awards, including the Leo Nevas Human Rights (Global Leadership) Award of the U.N. Foundation.
