Janine Morna (X) is the thematic researcher on children with Amnesty International’s Crisis Response Programme where she has carried out research on the impact of conflict on children in Niger, north-east Syria, Ukraine, and Haiti. Before working with Amnesty, Janine was a consultant at the network Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict, where she developed research and policy guidance on negotiating handover protocols to prevent or reduce the detention of children in armed conflict. She previously worked as a researcher at Watchlist, leading on-the-ground investigations in Nigeria and the Central African Republic on grave violations committed against children. Janine began her career in human rights as a research fellow in the Children’s Rights Division of Human Rights Watch. Janine holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Yale University and a J.D. from Columbia Law School.
