Casey Michel (@cjcmichel) is a writer, analyst, and investigative journalist based in New York, covering foreign interference and kleptocracy-related developments. He received a Master’s degree in Russian, Eurasian, and East European Studies from Columbia University’s Harriman Institute, and his writing has appeared in Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, The Atlantic, The New Republic, POLITICO Magazine, The Washington Post, Sports Illustrated, Quartz, and The American Interest, among others. He previously worked as an investigative journalist with ThinkProgress, and recently served as a Global Magnitsky/Senior Investigative Fellow with the Human Rights Foundation. He is also a member of the Advisory Council for the Hudson Institute’s Kleptocracy Initiative, and has contributed in the past to the Nuclear Threat Initiative, Freedom House, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and the United States Institute of Peace.
