Professor Simon Mabon (@profmabon) is Chair in International Politics at Lancaster University where he directs SEPAD and the Richardson Institute. He is the author of The Struggle for Supremacy in the Middle East: Saudi Arabia and Iran (Cambridge University Press, 2023), Houses built on sand: Sovereignty, violence  and revolution in the Middle East (Manchester University Press, 2020), Saudi Arabia and Iran: Power and Rivalry in the Middle East (IB Tauris, 2013) and a range of other articles, chapters and edited volumes on regional politics.
