Mason W. Krusch is an independent researcher specializing in disinformation and influence operations. He has published several articles in the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism’s Global Network on Extremism & Technology (GNET) investigating and proposing technology- and education-based countermeasures to far-right online radicalization and the proliferation of conspiracy theories normalizing political violence. Additionally, his recent peer-reviewed journal article for Small Wars & Insurgencies (Routledge) traces the historical development of Russia’s influence operations over the past half-century from Afghanistan and Chechnya to Ukraine. He has also written on the nexus between Russia’s public diplomacy and malign influence operations in Georgia for The Defence Horizon Journal. He holds a MS in Global Studies and International Relations from Northeastern University (Boston, MA) and a BA in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
