Dr. Anan Alsheikh Haidar is a research fellow at the Institute for International Peace and Security Law at the University of Cologne, Germany. She previously was as a Phillipp Schwartz fellow at the institute from July 2016 to December 2018.
Dr. Haidar studied at the Faculty of Law of the University of Damascus, Syria, and received her Diploma in Law in 2000. She earned her Master of Laws (LLM) in Advanced Legal Studies as a Chevening scholar at the School of Law at the University of Reading, UK, in 2005, followed by her Ph.D. in Law in 2010 in the principal subjects of International Criminal Law, International Human Rights Law, and International Security Studies. She worked as a lecturer at the Faculty of Law at Damascus University from 2010 to 2014, as well as at the Syrian Virtual University.
