Katie Schwartzmann is an experienced legal counsel at Protect Democracy working to protect free speech and assembly. Katie was previously the director of the First Amendment Law Clinic at Tulane Law School. Before that, she served in managing litigation roles at multiple free speech civil rights organizations. She served as the legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana, overseeing a robust docket of cases challenging impingements on freedoms of speech, the press, religion, civil rights, and assembly. She was also managing director of the Southern Poverty Law Center.
