Michael Jensen

Dr. Michael Jensen is the incoming Director of Research for the Polarization and Extremism Research & Innovation Lab (PERIL) at American University. Prior to joining PERIL, Dr. Jensen was the Research Director at the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) at the University of Maryland, where he also led the center’s team on terrorism and targeted violence. His work focuses on radicalization to, and disengagement from, extremism, community reintegration, and violence prevention. He earned his PhD in Political Science from Arizona State University.
