
Tara Ganapathy
Tara Ganapathy (Linkedin) is Counsel in the Congressional Investigations and White Collar practice groups at K&L Gates in Washington, D.C. Tara previously served as Senior Counsel for Oversight at the White House Office of Management and Budget and, prior to that, the Department of Health and Human Services, where she advised the agencies in connection with a variety of issues concerning congressional investigations, separation of powers, and administrative law. Prior to joining the Executive Branch, she served as Counsel to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, under the leadership of Representative James E. Clyburn, where she led investigations into pandemic-related fraud, lobbying and disclosure issues, and private sector compliance with pandemic-related measures. She also organized a number of hearings on policy issues such as fair labor practices, corporate transparency, and public health.
Prior to Tara’s government experience, Tara practiced litigation and white collar defense at two major law firms, where she represented a variety of individual and corporate clients in connection with government investigations, internal reviews, and commercial disputes. She also cultivated an active pro bono practice, representing individual and non-profit clients in statutory and constitutional challenges to a variety of government actions. During the 2020 election cycle, Tara advised the Biden-Harris Transition Team on a variety of matters concerning executive actions and litigation.
Tara earned her J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center and her bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University.
