Renata Hessmann Dalaqua is the Head of the Integrated Approaches – Gender and Disarmament Programme at United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR). She has more than fifteen years of professional experience in international relations, including policy coordination, research and analysis on international security.

Before joining UNIDIR in 2018, Renata worked as Deputy Director of Projects at the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) and as a Consultant with VERTIC.

Renata holds a PhD in History and Politics from the Vargas Foundation, Brazil and a master’s degree in International Politics and Security from the University College of London, UK.

Renata’s areas of expertise include gender and multilateral disarmament fora, nuclear energy policy-making and technology governance.
