Erwin Chemerinsky
Dean and Jesse H. Choper Distinguished Professor of Law, University of California, Berkeley School of Law. Prior to assuming this position in 2017, he was founding Dean and Raymond Pryke Professor of First Amendment Law at University of California, Irvine, and before that a professor at Duke Law School, University of Southern California Law School, and DePaul College of Law. He is the author of 20 books, including leading casebooks and treatises on Constitutional Law, Criminal Procedure, and Federal Courts. His most recent book, No Democracy Lasts Forever: How the Constitution Threatens the United States, was published in August 2024. He also is the author of over 200 law review articles and a frequent contributor to oped pages in major newspapers. In 2022, he was President of the Association of American Law Schools.
