Ambassador Susan F. Burk (@SEFBurk) is a retired Senior Executive with 36 years’ experience advancing the U.S. Government’s arms control, nonproliferation and counterterrorism agenda in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency and the Department of State.  She served as the Special Representative of the President (Obama) for Nuclear Non-proliferation, with the rank of Ambassador. In that position, she led the U.S. delegation in the successful 2010 NPT Review Conference, and spearheaded renewed efforts to advance establishment of nuclear weapon free zone treaties in Southeast and Central Asia.  She also helped lead U.S. preparations for the 1995 NPT Review and Extension Conference.

Susan Burk is currently an independent consultant specializing on issues related to the nuclear nonproliferation regime in all aspects.  She serves on the Boards of the the Arms Control Association and the Center for Arms Control and Non-proliferation. She is a member of the American Academy of Diplomacy.
