After an exhaustive search and many great applicants, we are thrilled to announce that Kate Brannen will join Just Security as Deputy Managing Editor on October 18th.
Brannen will be familiar to many Just Security readers. She is currently a national security reporter and nonresident senior fellow at the Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security at the Atlantic Council. Brannen most recently served as a senior national security writer covering the Pentagon at Foreign Policy and before that was at Politico. She was earlier a congressional reporter for Defense News, where she covered budget and defense policy debates on Capitol Hill. Brannen also spent three years covering the US Army—first as a reporter for InsideDefense.com, then as the land warfare correspondent for Defense News.
She holds a B.A. in history from the University of Pennsylvania and master’s degrees from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and School of International and Public Affairs.
